Former Alaska governor Sarah Palin has added fuel to the firestorm of speculation that she may launch a 2012 presidential bid.
Palin announced that she has hired Michael Glassner to serve as chief of staff to her political team. Glassner, whose hiring was first reported by CNN, will be responsible for managing Palin’s small, loosely organized team across a number of states.
While Palin has not formally announced her 2012 plans, hiring Glassner signals that she may be considering a presidential bid more seriously than has been thought.
The announcement also came during the annual Conservative Political Action Conference, a three-day meeting of Republican party establishment leaders and grass-roots conservatives. The conference is serving as the first opportunity for potential 2012 candidates to introduce (or re-introduce) themselves to the party’s base.
