PORT ANGELES — Peninsula College will start a $4 million construction project in December bringing all student services into a centrally located building on its main campus.
The project will remodel the existing D and E buildings into a comprehensive student services center at the main campus, 1502 E. Lauridsen Blvd.
The two-story building will house counseling, registration, financial aid and the international student office.
Construction on the 14,253-square-foot building will begin Dec. 2.
Completion is set for the 2004 winter quarter.
“The building is designed to welcome students and make campus more user friendly, safer and more accessible for everyone,” said Joan Ethier, Peninsula College senior vice president of administrative services.
The building will be about 35 feet tall and feature a slightly taller three-sided clock tower.
The project is the largest construction effort on campus in the last 10 years and will help update the aging campus, Ethier said, noting many of the buildings are more than 40 years old.
The building will include 31 offices on the first floor and two faculty offices, four all-purpose offices, a testing laboratory and three classrooms on the second floor.
