The lattes and cappuccinos still steamed at Michael Swirski’s shop on Tuesday, but customers hoping to get on-line were out of luck.
Strong winds across the North Olympic Peninsula that took out a power line and a Qwest fiber optic cable in Jefferson County pulled the plug on Internet access in most of Clallam County.
“It affected our bottom line,” said Swirski, who owns @Play Internet Cafe at First and Lincoln streets in Port Angeles.
With the damaged fiber optic cable, Swirski said the cafe still served espresso but was without Internet access from before 5 p.m. until its regular closing time at 8:30 p.m.
“We were probably almost 30 percent below where we should be for that day,” he said.
The Internet was back up and running on Wednesday.
