Election officials on the North Olympic Peninsula today will count mail-in and absentee ballots collected from polling sites on election night and those received in the mail during the past week.
Jefferson County officials will start counting about 1,800 ballots at 11 a.m. today.
Clallam County officials said they will count almost 8,000 ballots and should be finished by 4:30 p.m.
Several races could be affected by today’s count, including school board races, fire district races and the Port of Port Angeles race between Corby Somerville and Bill Hannan.
Absentee ballots postmarked by Nov. 6 and arriving after today are due to be counted Nov. 20. Certification of election results is scheduled for Nov. 21.
