Residents of Clallam and Jefferson counties whose properties were damaged in sustained October floods — primarily on the West End — have until Tuesday to apply for disaster assistance through the Federal Emergency Management Administration.
Jan. 6 is also the deadline for submitting loan applications to the U.S. Small Business Administration for disaster-related losses to real and personal property.
“We want people to understand that this is merely a registration deadline,” said Anthony Russell, federal coordinating officer for FEMA.
“For individuals who have already applied, their cases will continue to be processed; however, we will not be accepting new registrations.”
Clallam and Jefferson were two of 15 Washington counties that received a presidential disaster declaration after October’s sustained storms and flooding.
Of the 1,269 individuals who have applied for disaster assistance statewide, 46 live in Clallam County and 10 in Jefferson.
