Residents turned out to cheer graduating seniors as the Class of 2020 rolled down city streets in Port Angeles and Port Townsend on Friday in lieu of the usual formal graduation ceremonies. Port Angeles posted a virtual ceremony on its website and Port Townsend celebrated commencement with a modified ceremony at the Wheel-In after the parades.
Port Angeles students and parents organized a motorcade of students in more than 100 cars for a trip from Ediz Hook, through downtown and up to the high school. A total of 262 seniors were to receive diplomas as part of the Class of 2020.
Port Townsend High School seniors waved to residents who lined Water Street during the Senior Serpentine on its way to the drive-in. Other North Olympic Peninsula districts celebrated graduation Saturday.
