Three elected Peninsula Democrats said Monday they understand why Gov. Gary Locke will step down as governor after 2004.
“I really truly believe that this man wants to be home with his family and lead a more normal family life,” said House Majority Leader Rep. Lynn Kessler, D-Hoquiam, who was called by Locke on Sunday night to be told of his decision.
“And that is virtually impossible if he is in the governor’s mansion.
“There is no way any human being can have a normal life in that position.
Reps. Kessler and Jim Buck, R-Joyce, and Sen. Jim Hargrove, D-Hoquiam, represent Clallam and Jefferson counties in the Legislature.
