Schools and government offices across the North Olympic Peninsula will be closed Monday to observe Sunday’s Veterans Day holiday.
Here’s a summary of what’s open and closed:
* Tourist activities: Port Angeles, Sequim, Port Townsend and Olympic National Park visitor centers will be open. Entrances to the national and state parks will be free on Veterans Day as a gesture toward national healing from the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.
* Schools: Closed Monday.
* Mail: Post offices closed and only Express Mail delivered on Monday.
* Buses: Clallam and Jefferson transit buses will have service as usual Monday.
* Banks: Closed.
* Government: Federal, state, county and city government offices closed Monday. The Port Angeles driver’s license office will be closed on Saturday.
* Garbage: Pickup schedules will remain the same for Port Angeles customers and for those of Olympic Environmental Waste and of West Waste and Recycling.
* Liquor stores: State-run liquor stores on the North Olympic Peninsula will be closed Monday.
* Pools: William Shore Memorial Pool in Port Angeles will be open and will add an open swim from 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. The Sequim Aquatic Recreation Center will be open.
* Ferries: No change in ferry schedules.
* Libraries: Closed.
* Senior centers: Port Angeles center will be closed, but Sequim’s will be open.
* Newspaper: Offices of the Peninsula Daily News in Port Angeles, Sequim and Port Townsend will be open Monday, and the newspaper will publish as usual.
