PORT ANGELES — Peninsula College trustees will name an interim president to temporarily replace Peninsula College President Tom Keegan when they meet Tuesday.
Trustees will discuss the matter during a closed executive session at noon in Room A-12 at the college’s main campus, 1502 E. Lauridsen Blvd.
They will convene in open session at 2 p.m. in the same room and vote on the appointment.
They also will discuss the process of finding a permanent replacement for Keegan.
Keegan, who has led Peninsula College for 10 years, was selected as the new president of Skagit Valley College on Oct. 12.
His last day at Peninsula College will be Friday, Feb. 3, and the interim president will take the reins Monday, Feb. 6.
Keegan said Wednesday that he would play his part “in making sure the transition is smooth and keeping the focus on teaching and learning.”
The board also is expected Tuesday to name members to a search advisory committee, select a search consultant and approve a time line for the process.
The search advisory committee members are scheduled to meet with the search consultant in January to create a profile for the president they want, and a search announcement will be posted in February.
The profile will describe the position, required and preferred qualifications, experience and skills desired, as well as the foreseeable opportunities and challenges at the college, which is based in Port Angeles with branches in Forks and Port Townsend.
Community input for the qualities desired in the next college president are being collected at forums across the North Olympic Peninsula.
