Peninsula College to stage ‘The Thanksgiving Play’

PORT ANGELES — Peninsula College will present its production of “The Thanksgiving Play” with shows at 7 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays through Nov. 23.

The play will be staged in the Little Theater on the college’s Port Angeles Campus, 1502 E. Lauridsen Blvd. except for the performance on Nov. 22, which will be at Field Arts & Events Hall, 201 W. Front St., Port Angeles.

Tickets for all shows are $20 at the door. Peninsula College students will be admitted free to the on-campus performances.

The satire was written by Native American playwright Larissa Fasthorse in 2018 and features a group of woke art teachers attempting to create a politically correct elementary school play about the first Thanksgiving.

The play is directed by Lara Starcevich with set/costume design by Marissa Meek.

In 2023, Fasthorse became the first Native American woman playwright to have her work performed on Broadway when “The Thanksgiving Play” was staged at the Hayes Theater.

“The Thanksgiving Play” is not a children’s holiday play. Attendees should be prepared for violence, sexual content, racially insensitive language, racism and the mention of suicide.

For more information, contact Starcevich at laras@pencol.edu or visit www.pencol.edu.
