The electricity is back on, downed trees have been cleared and mild flood waters are receding .
But on Saturday, the day after the first major winter storm of the season cleared the North Olympic Peninsula, a flood watch remained, as did high wind and surf advisories.
The flood watch was posted for rivers in the southern and western parts of the Olympic Mountains.
The high wind watch was posted for the north interior and coast.
As usual, the Port Angeles-Sequim areas, nestled in the protective shadow of the Olympics, suffered few effects.
But on the West End, a high surf advisory was in effect along the coast — Saturday’s pounding surf interrupted the 2003 LaPush Surf Frolic at First Beach.
But overall, North Olympic Peninsula residents collectively sighed in relief as the effects of the winter storm that moved through the area Thursday and Friday subsided.
