PORT ANGELES — The state Court of Appeals is taking its show on the road with today’s stop at Peninsula College.
Beginning at 8 a.m., Chief Judge J. Robin Hunt and Judges David Armstrong and Christine Quinn-Brintnall of the state’s Division 2 Court of Appeals in Tacoma will hear arguments on seven local criminal cases in the college’s Little Theater, 1502 E. Lauridsen Blvd.
The court will hear five cases before noon, then recess for lunch when judges will be available to answer questions.
They will reconvene at 1:30 p.m. to hear the final two cases.
The sessions are open to the public.
“We hope to offer students and the public valuable insight about how Washington’s appellate courts work,” Hunt said last week.
The Division 2 appeals court has traveled throughout Western Washington since 1993, hearing cases in its geographical region.
“It presents the court to people who usually don’t get to see that,” Peninsula College Plant Communications Coordinator Marge Fuller said Tuesday.
The court has the authority to overrule, remand, modify or affirm decisions of lower courts.
