The anti-Iraq war message hit the streets of Clallam County this week, with signs posted on the sides of Clallam Transit System buses.
“The plan is to have them on for the entire month,” said Vincent Murray, a leader with the Peninsula Peace Movement, which sponsored the advertisements.
“This is how we alert people to the folly of war to resolve conflict,” he added. “It doesn’t work, and historically that is certainly true.”
But don’t look for such signs on the sides of Jefferson Transit buses.
A spokesperson for the transit agency says Jefferson has a policy against political advertising.
Peninsula Peace Movement, which now says it has more than 100 members, paid Clallam Transit a total of $700 to put seven signs on the sides of buses. Each sign is about 7 feet long and 2 feet tall.
