NEAH BAY — A fundraiser is planned on Sunday for a family of five that narrowly escaped its two-story home before the structure was engulfed in flames.
The Rev. Andrew and Andrea Winck and their children — Courtney, 14, Elisha, 10, and Kayla, 8 — all escaped the flames unharmed.
They lost everything they owned in the fire that began at about 2:30 a.m. Tuesday in the garage of their home at 410 Diaht Hill Road.
Support has been pouring in from the surrounding community, said Carol Claplanhoo, who heads the emergency preparedness office for the Makah tribe.
Claplanhoo said a fundraiser dinner is planned at 5 p.m. on Sunday at the Neah Bay Community Hall.
A meeting is set at 6 p.m. today at Neah Bay High School to discuss a future fundraiser.
“The idea is to brainstorm some ideas,” said Ann Renker, principal of the Neah Bay Middle School and High School.
