PORT TOWNSEND — The MV Snohomish passenger ferry began voyages on the Port Townsend-Keystone route on Sunday after undergoing emergency repairs on Saturday
The Puget Sound Express provided service Saturday after ferry mechanics informed Washington State Ferries early that morning that the ferry wasn’t ready for sailing, said Susan Harris-Huether, customer information manager.
“It will be on the regular schedule,” Harris-Huether said. “It will be out of the Port Townsend Terminal as opposed to the marina (where the Puget Sound Express had been docking).”
The 149-passenger Snohomish was expected to begin service on the route Thursday, but late that night, ferry officials moved the date forward to Monday, citing problems with the bathrooms.
On Friday, the ferry’s start date was moved to Saturday, when the latest mechanical problem was uncovered.
That pressed the Puget Sound Express into service for the day.
The Snohomish will leave from the Port Townsend ferry terminal.
The Puget Sound Express service departed from the Hudson Point Marina.
