Parenting Matters to host Breakfast with Santa in Sequim

SEQUIM — Tickets are available for the Parenting Matters Foundation’s Breakfast with Santa on Saturday, Dec. 2.

The breakfast will be from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. in the cafeteria at Sequim Middle School, 301 W. Hendrickson Road.

Tickets are $10 for those older than 11 and $5 for those ages 2 to 10. Admission is free for those younger than 2.

Tickets are available online through Brown Paper Tickets at bws2017.brownpapertickets.com or at the door.

The breakfast has been a feature for 26 years, organizers said. It is a fundraiser for Parenting Matters and the First Teacher program.

Children and families can come when they like to have a photograph of their children taken with Santa and Mrs. Claus.

Each child will receive a free book. Children will be offered crafts and toy trains. Holiday music is planned, as well as raffles and a hearty breakfast.

This event is in cooperation with SODEXO food services and Toy Maker sponsors Sequim Animal Hospital, Homer Smith Insurance Inc., Olympic Mortgage Services with Arthur Buhrer, Dungeness Speech & Language, North Olympic Healthcare Network and JG Photography, as well as Elf sponsors Sunrise Dental of Sequim, Teamsters, Sunny Farms and Olympic Peninsula Macaroni Kid.

The Parenting Matters Foundation provides free books at each First Teacher event and sends monthly parenting newsletters with brief chunks of tips and information on parenting, child development, healthy practices, and local activities.

It sponsors Blockfest events where parents and children play with blocks together while learning how to emphasize math and science. It hosts parent education classes, a family resource room with opportunities for play and community interaction in Sequim, and social media communications about parenting.
