Palace Hotel wins first in Port Townsend holiday window display contest

PORT TOWNSEND — The Palace Hotel has won first place in the Port Townsend Main Street holiday window display contest.

The hotel at 1004 Water St., won for its Port Townsend Train Station window display.

“They added new mini lights to the small buildings in the display and continue to invest in improvements for the train station,” said Candac Mangold with the Main Street Program.

“A lot of love continues to go into this display every year, making it a favorite holiday stop. “

The Palace Hotel will receive a wreath, a photo opportunity and $50 toward a 2019 Port Townsend Main Street promotion.

Judges spent several hours Monday looking over the displays in Uptown and Downtown, Mangold said.

“It was a difficult decision this year as so many windows were so beautifully and thoughtfully decorated,” she said in a news release.

Second Place was awarded to the Port Townsend Antique Mall, 802 Washington St.

“They had an amazing Halloween display in October and kept up the stunning work with a vintage Christmas display complete with retro antique toys and a gorgeous tree adorned with vintage glass ornaments,” Mangold said.

The Port Townsend Antique Mall will receive an award, a photo opportunity and a $25 gift card to the Food Co-op.

Honorable Mention went to the Winter Window on Washington Street by The Red Truck Foundation.
