The executive director of a South Olympic Peninsula economic development council was hired to replace Jim Haguewood as executive director of the Clallam County Economic Development Council.
Linda Rotman, executive director of the Pacific County Economic Development Council, will take over her new position based in Port Angeles in mid-June, departing Clallam EDC chief Jim Haguewood said Friday.
“I’ve been watching Clallam County for three years,” Rotman said in a telephone interview on Friday.
“When they would do something, I would try bringing it to Pacific County and adjust it for our 20,000 population.”
She and her husband, Royce, have found a rental property in Sequim, so they are now “official residents,” Rotman said.
“I’m really excited about working with Jim Haguewood as I transition into my new job. The board also will be helping with the transition,” she said.
Feels like going home
Rotman said she and her husband are originally from the Kitsap Peninsula, so the move feels like going home.
She loves Pacific County, but Clallam County has “the best of both worlds,” Rotman said, noting the rural setting combined with such urban amenities as a symphony.
