PORT ANGELES – Cherie Kidd will replace Port Angeles City Councilman Grant Munro, and Steven Baxter won Position 5 on the Port Angeles School Board, defeating Susan Hillgren.
That was the verdict after more than 3,925 final last-minute ballots were added Wednesday to vote totals in last Tuesday’s election.
Only 145 challenged ballots remained to be accepted or rejected by the Clallam County Canvassing Board.
No more than a third of them are expected to affect either of the two close races, said Clallam County Auditor Patty Rosand.
Neither of Clallam County’s narrow races is within the 1 percent margin that requires an automatic recount.
Kidd led Munro 2,804 votes to 2,575, a 229-vote difference, or 52.13 to 47.87 percent.
Baxter led Hillgren 4,061 votes to 3,871, a gap of 190 votes, or 51.2 to 48.8 percent.
