Outdoor community concerts this week on Peninsula

Pack up a picnic dinner, grab your lawn chair or a blanket — and don’t forget your sunglasses if it’s sunny, or a wool coat if there’s a cold breeze — and head to family-friendly outdoor community concerts in Jefferson and Clallam counties this week.

Here’s the schedule:

Sequim

• Tuesday, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. — Olympic Trombone Orchestra (standards, jazz).

Free.

This is part of the city of Sequim’s Music in the Park series through next Tuesday at the outdoor James Center for the Performing Arts amphitheater at the Sequim Water Reuse Park, 563 N. Rhodefer Road, just north of Carrie Blake Park.

Last Music in the Park concert of the season, on Aug. 31 — Ranger and the Re-Arrangers (gypsy jazz).

Port Angeles

• Wednesday, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. — Sequimarimba (marimba-centric music of Africa; see advertisement, Page C2 today).

Free.

This is part of the Port Angeles Regional Chamber of Commerce’s Concert on the Pier series.

Concerts are every Wednesday through Sept. 8 on Port Angeles City Pier.

Vendors sell food.

City Pier is a no-smoking, alcohol-free environment.

Some chairs are available for the disabled and early arrivals.

Next free Concert on the Pier, on Sept. 1 — Luck of the Draw (bluegrass).

Port Townsend

• Thursday, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. — Delta Rays (groovy dance music).

Free.

This is part of the Jefferson County Chamber of Commerce’s summer Concert on the Dock series every Thursday through next week at the end of Water Street across from the Northwest Maritime Center (431 Water St.).

Last Concert on the Dock of the season, on Sept. 2 — Battle of the Bands winner Blacky Sheridan (rock).

Marrowstone Island

• Saturday, at 3 p.m. — Port Townsend Summer Band (a mixture of concert favorites and marches).

This is part of the Fort Flagler State Park summer concert series.

Admission is free, but a $5 donation is suggested.

The concert is in the Battery Bankhead amphitheater at Fort Flagler, located at the end of Marrowstone Island.

Follow the signs in the park to the battery.

Next Fort Flagler concert (final in the summer series), 3 p.m. Sept. 11 — Navy Band Northwest’s Big Band “Cascade.”

Concert for charity

• Saturday, 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. — Olympic Cellars winery’s month-long Saturday Summer Concert Series for charity winds up with Handful of Luvin’ (Seattle band, an “eccentric blend of folk-rock, reggae and world rhythms”).

This is a benefit for the North Olympic Land Trust and Friends of the Fields; $5 admission.

The outdoor concert will take place on the winery grounds, 255410 U.S. Highway 101, between Port Angeles and Sequim.

Bring a picnic dinner and lawn chairs; winery seating fills quickly.

Beverages will be available for sale.
