PORT ANGELES — The Port of Port Angeles will take another look at the future of the 113-acre former Critchfield property now that Washington Alder is building its sawmill elsewhere.
“We will continue to market the property to some extent,” Port Executive Director Bob McChesney said Monday afternoon.
“But this is an opportunity to take another look at that property and see how it works for us overall.”
The Port is going through a comprehensive master plan process, seeing what activities it should pursue, what property and facilities it has, what it needs and how to pay for future projects.
Port Commission President Leonard Beil said during the public process to declare the airport-area Critchfield property surplus in August, several other parties had shown interest in buying it.
“I would anticipate some of those interested in buying the property probably are going to approach the Port with some kind of offer,” Beil said.
“Now that it is still surplus, I would not be surprised at getting an offer within a month.”
