OTA opens Children’s Theatre winter class registration

SEQUIM — Olympic Theatre Arts is accepting registration now for two Children’s Theatre winter class series in January.

Both classes will be at Olympic Theatre Arts Center, 414 N. Sequim Ave.

Beginning Jan. 16, Lorra Cornetet will lead a class for children ages 4 to 8 called “Jellybeans” from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. for 10 consecutive Tuesdays. Tuition is $80.

The class explores creative storytelling and theater basics through interactive games.

“This is our second class series for our youngest thespians,” said Carol Willis, executive director.

“The development we saw during this 10-week period was very impressive, and they had so much fun that they didn’t want to miss a single class.”

A second series of classes, now entering its fourth year at OTA, is offered for youth ages 8 to 18.

Instructors Lisa Mantchev and Bonne Smith will explore “International Folklore” as the theme for the winter class from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Wednesdays beginning Jan. 17. This series also is a 10-week class. Tuition is $120.

The students will explore global storytelling techniques and learn about theater history. During the session, the actors will be cast for short scene work culminating in a showcase performance at the end of the session.

Need-based tuition assistance is available, made possible through a grant from Kitsap Bank.

More information and registration forms can be found online at www. olympictheatrearts.org or by contacting the OTA business office at 360-683-7326 between 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. Mondays through Fridays.
