Opioid treatment programs topic of informational sessions

PORT ANGELES — Salish Behavioral Health Organization will host an informational session on planned opioid treatment programs in Port Angeles on Friday.

The group also plans a session in Bremerton.

The Clallam County session will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Peninsula College’s Little Theater, 1502 E. Lauridsen Blvd., Port Angeles.

The Kitsap County session will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Oct. 26 at the Norm Dicks Government Center, 345 Sixth St., Bremerton.

The treatment programs will be conducted by BayMark Health Services, based in Lewisville, Texas, operating under a contract with Salish Behavioral Health Organization.

The programs will use a variety of interventions to treat individuals with opioid addiction issues and assist them in recovery efforts, according to a news release.

A panel of subject matter experts will answer questions from community members about opioid treatment programs.

Medical and mental health care providers are encouraged to attend this event.

Salish is a county-operated organization responsible for the oversight of behavioral health services including mental health and substance-use disorders.

The organization operates in accordance with a state contract to contract with community-based agencies throughout the region to provide treatment, behavioral health and crisis services for Kitsap, Clallam and Jefferson County Medicaid recipients, according to the release.
