PORT ANGELES — Operation Candy Cane is back after a two-year absence and it has grown.
This year there will be two Operation Candy Cane programs in Port Angeles.
Clallam 2 Fire-Rescue firefighters will be outside the city limits at Roosevelt School, 106 Monroe Road, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today and at Dry Creek School, 25 Rife Road, during the same hours on Saturday.
They will be at stationary locations with Santa, firefighter elves and a decorated fire engine accepting food donations and handing out candy canes.
Port Angeles Fire Department volunteer firefighters, accompanied by Santa, will travel the streets of Port Angeles from Dec. 10 to Dec. 15 handing out candy canes in exchange for donations of non-perishable food items for the Port Angeles Food Bank.
They will ride on a decorated 1956 Seagrave fire engine beginning at 5:30 p.m. each evening.
Here is the schedule:
• Dec. 10 — West of I and M streets.
• Dec. 11 — I & L streets to C Street.
• Dec. 12 — C Street to Lincoln Street.
• Dec. 13 — Chase Street to Chambers Street.
• Dec. 14 — Jones Street to Golf Course Road.
• Dec. 15 — Above Lauridsen Boulevard.
In Sequim, starting Monday, Santa’s Toy and Food Fire Brigade will be from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. through Friday across Sequim. Santa and elves will hand out candy canes.
