Opening day of filing brisk in Jefferson County, too

PORT TOWNSEND – The first day of candidate filings for the election season Monday found 23 signing up.

They filed for 19 of the 56 positions in Jefferson County up for grabs in the August primary and November general election.

The filing period continues at 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily through Friday in the Jefferson County Auditor’s Office on the second floor of the county courthouse, 1820 Jefferson St., Port Townsend.

If an open position is not filed for by Friday, a three-day extension last June 13-15.

Offices for which people filed Monday and candidates include:

  • Port of Port Townsend, Position 1: Forest Rambo.

  • Port Townsend City Council, 2-year unexpired term of Position 2: Catharine Robinson.

  • Port Townsend City Council, Position 6: David King.

  • Port Townsend City Council, Position 7: Brent Butler.

  • Public Hospital District No. 2 (Jefferson Healthcare), Position 3: Michael C. Kubec, Marc Mauney, Robert W. Bentley.

  • Public Hospital District No. 2, Position 5: Jill Buhler, incumbent.

  • Public Hospital District No. 1, Position 2: Nikki F. Hay.

  • Chimacum School District, Director 2: Anna Brown.

  • Chimacum School District, Director 4: Quentin Goodrich, incumbent.

  • Brinnon School District, Director 4: Gloria Allingham.

  • Fire Protection District No. 1 (East Jefferson Fire-Rescue), Position 1: Zane Wyll, Terry Heineman.

  • Fire Protection District No. 3 (Brinnon), Position 3: Meril Smith, Michael Eastman.

  • Fire Protection District No. 5 (Gardi­ner/Disco­very Bay), Position 3: Bev Horan.
