PORT ANGELES — An open house on plans to build a new municipal swimming pool either on City Hall property or at the Clallam County YMCA will be held March 9.
Residents can view exhibits and ask questions starting at 7 p.m. at the Vern Burton Community Center, 223 E. Fourth St.
A presentation will begin at 7:15 p.m. and last about 30 minutes. Residents then can talk informally with the project’s staff.
Residents also can provide written and verbal comments, which will be summarized and included on the project’s future Web site, accessed through the city’s Web site, cityofpa.us.

44-year-old pool
The city has decided to replace the 44-year-old William Shore Memorial Pool at 225 E. Fifth St.
Under study is the location and cost.
A city advisory committee proposed running a bond issue this year to finance refurbishing the current pool at its location near the corner of Lincoln and East Fifth streets.
But the City Council voted 6-1 in June 2004 to have city staff research a central location for a new swimming pool rather than refurbish the old pool.
Several council members cited the pool’s “service area” of 45,000 potential users and the estimated $5 million cost of fixing up the old pool versus an estimated $6 million for building a new pool at a new site.
