PORT ANGELES — One man was briefly sent to the hospital following a two-vehicle wreck Sunday morning on U.S. Highway 101.
Port Angeles resident John L. Lawler IV, 52, was injured in the wreck, according to a State Patrol report, but he was released from medical care as of Sunday afternoon.
Lawler was driving a green 1999 Plymouth Voyager eastbound on Highway 101 at Monroe Road at about 9:49 a.m., followed by Port Angeles resident Morris G. Swadener, 73, who was driving a gray 2003 Nissan pickup truck, the State Patrol report said.
When Lawler slowed to enter the center turn lane, the Nissan struck the Voyager from behind.
Lawler was taken to Olympic Medical Center where he was treated and released by Sunday afternoon, said an OMC spokeswoman.
Swadener was not injured, and neither vehicle had a passenger, State Patrol said.
Both drivers were wearing seat belts, according to the report.
State Patrol said the cause of the wreck was driver inattention on the part of Swadener, and he was cited for following too close.
The Nissan was totaled, and the Plymouth had reportable damage and was driven from the scene.
