PORT ANGELES — One person was evaluated for minor injuries in an early morning fire at a residence in Emerald RV Park, according to a press release from the Port Angeles Fire Department.
Firefighters were dispatched at 2:33 a.m. Monday to a report of a fully involved structure fire in the park, located at 1215 U.S. Highway 101 in Port Angeles.
Firefighters, one fire engine and a medic unit arrived to find a fifth-wheel trailer fully involved, with two additional trailers within 8 to 10 feet also in danger, the release stated. One was filled with smoke and beginning to catch fire.
One resident was evaluated for a minor injury sustained while trying to extinguish the fire. No firefighters were injured.
Firefighters focused on preventing the fire from spreading and ensuring no one was in the nearby trailers, according to the release. The displaced residents from the original trailer were assisted by the Red Cross.
Firefighters extinguished the fire on the initial trailer, which was completely destroyed, plus one that had started on another trailer, the release stated.
One of the other trailers sustained smoke damage, exterior damage and broken windows.
The fire’s cause is under investigation and estimated loss is unknown.
The Port Angeles Fire Department responded with nine personnel. The Port Angeles Police Department responded with three personnel. Clallam 2 Fire-Rescue responded with three personnel, including one engine company.
Olympic Ambulance responded with one medic unit for standby and Port Angeles City Light responded with one person to secure utilities.
