Olympic Peninsula YMCA opens public fundraising campaign

1st Security Bank donates $2,500

The Olympic Peninsula YMCA has kicked off its public 2021 annual Impact Campaign to raise funds “to help build strong kids and strong families of all ages across the Olympic Peninsula.”

Organizers say the campaign is off to a great start as the YMCA received a $2,500 donation from 1st Security Bank in Sequim.

“We are grateful to be able to support the Olympic Peninsula YMCA in their mission to care for our communities,” said Anthony Aceto, vice president branch manager of 1st Security Bank.

Donations to the campaign support swim lessons for second-graders, meal programs for children, summer camps to give children the best summer ever, membership support (including free memberships for seventh-graders) and child care for working families.

“This year, we want to teach more kids to swim, provide more nutritious meals to children and give kids a summer they won’t forget,” said Wendy Bart, YMCA CEO.

“We want to give families the opportunities they need to build healthy bodies and minds, and provide working families with safe and affordable child care.”

YMCA staff and board directors have been raising funds for the Impact Campaign since March. The campaign, which opened Tuesday, will run through June; however, donations will be accepted all year long.
