Olympic National Park fisheries biologists Sam Brenkman and Steve Corbett will deliver preliminary findings from their research on bull trout in the park tonight.
Their free, one-hour talk is part of the park’s annual “Perspectives” series and is open to the public.
It will begin at 7 p.m. at the park visitor center, 3002 Mount Angeles Road, Port Angeles.
Brenkman and Corbett will show video footage of techniques used to track individual fish movements and answer questions from the audience.
Their study, which began in July 2002, will end in September 2005 when their findings will be incorporated into a plan developed by the Olympic Peninsula Bull Trout Recovery Team.
The study will also help park scientists understand migration patterns essential to establishing management and conservation strategies, Brenkman said.
“The Hoh River offers one of the last opportunities to study this species in a free-flowing river that originates from a protected area,” he said.
