PORT ANGELES — A tentative contract agreement has been reached between Olympic Medical Center and Service Employees International Union Healthcare 1199NW.
The tentative agreement, reached Wednesday and announced in a joint statement by OMC and Service Employees International Union Healthcare 1199NW today, is scheduled for a vote Tuesday by hospital commissioners and union members, the two sides said.
“Both the hospital and the nurses and health care workers acknowledge negotiations have been long and contentious and that it is in the best interests of the community to move forward with an agreement,” OMC and the union said in the statement.
The present contract expired in 2010.
OMC and the union reopened talks March 22 before a state Public Employment Relations Commission hearing was set to begin over the union’s unfair labor practices complaint related to the contract talks.
