SEQUIM — Olympic Medical Center has approved a $737,000 construction bid with PHC Construction to complete the interior of the Medical Services Building in Sequim.
PHC, a Bainbridge Island company, submitted the lowest of 12 bids that OMC received.
Hospital commissioners awarded the bid to PHC on Dec. 21. The next step is to finalize the contract. Commissioners set a maximum consideration of $985,000 when they opened the bidding process in October.
The Medical Services Building at 840 N. Fifth Ave. opened in 2007 with its interior unfinished.
The office space filled up as OMC grew.
Hospital officials have long planned to complete the interior of the building to help OMC recruit more physicians.
The expansion includes 2,633 square feet of new interior space for the Olympic Medical Physicians Specialty Clinic on the first floor of the building, 1,224 square feet of space for the cardiology clinic on the second floor and 935 square feet of second-floor office space.
OMC Chief Executive Officer Eric Lewis said he expects the work to be completed by April.
