PORT ANGELES — Olympic Medical Center is the apparent successful bidder on an office building at 801 E. Front St. that could get full occupancy for the first time since it was built eight years ago.
The hospital hopes to use the former location of Papa Murphy’s Take ‘N’ Bake Pizza to house its Olympic Home Health offices and support services.
Those offices currently occupy a building that will be razed to construct OMC’s new medical office building across Caroline Street from the hospital.
Hospital commissioners had authorized CEO Eric Lewis to bid up to $525,000 for the one-story, 8,700-square-foot building, but OMC won the auction for $460,000, hospital officials said.
Because the building is in receivership, the sale must be approved by a bankruptcy court.
Besides the pizza takeout, the building also once housed the medical offices of the late Dr. J.J. “Jack” Fairshter and the Wizard of Fraud certified public accountant.
Its five office suites never were fully occupied after it was constructed in 2007.
