PORT ANGELES – Olympic Medical Center is considering buying the Family Medicine of Port Angeles Clinic at Eighth and Cherry streets.
“It’s very preliminary right now,” OMC interim CEO Eric Lewis said Thursday of negotiations with Family Medicine, “but we are considering it.”
Not to be confused with the former Virginia Mason clinic at 433 E. Eighth St., the Family Medicine building is too small for its 30 health care workers who see 200 to 300 patients a day.
Its doctors are mulling buying the Port Angeles City Light building downtown.
The city then would move its utility operations to a new location.
Lewis stressed that the possible purchase would not affect the pending acquisition of the former Virginia Mason clinic, now the Olympic Medical Physicians Primary Care Clinic.
Harlan Knudson, chairman of hospital commissioners, said the Family Medicine buiding would “add to and complement what we’re doing on Eighth Street.”
The hospital will proceed with that purchase, estimated at $1.65 million, Knudson said, adding that its patients “shouldn’t be fearful.”
