SEQUIM — Gil Oldenkamp believes a person receives far more than he gives as a community volunteer.
On Tuesday, Oldenkamp received honors for years of volunteerism as he was named the Sequim-Dungeness Valley Chamber of Commerce’s Citizen of the Year.
“Sequim is Sequim because of volunteers,” Oldenkamp told the large crowd at John Wayne Marina after being awarded the plaque by former winner Jim Haynes.
“You get back 10 times as much as you put in.”
