PORT ANGELES — Police are investigating who was driving and riding in a car that was found upside down on U.S. Highway 101 at Reddick Road on Saturday.
The red Volkswagen Jetta was traveling east on U.S. Highway 101 when it veered off the road, rolling and crashing into a telephone pole, according to Clallam County Fire District No. 2, which responded to the scene.
When emergency responders arrived, no one was in the car, said Port Angeles Deputy Chief Brian Smith.
“It is unknown if there were any injuries,” he said.
“We are in the process of determining how many occupants were in the vehicle.”
When the Fire Department arrived, gasoline was leaking from the gas tank, which was plugged by the department, said fire Deputy Chief Mike Oakes.
Police also were investigating how the crash occurred.
