PORT ANGELES — The Democrats of Clallam County went willingly away from the sunshine and into a dark Port Angeles High School auditorium on Saturday, to pool their passions and call on one another to not blow their party’s chance at the White House.
After painstaking counts and heartfelt speeches that took hours longer than planned, Clallam’s Democratic Central Committee allocated 17 delegates for Illinois Sen. Barack Obama and seven for New York Sen. Hillary Clinton.
Those delegates will represent the county at the 6th Congressional District convention in Shelton May 17.
Some of those may seek to participate in the Washington state convention in Spokane on June 14, and even go to the Democratic National Convention in Denver, Colo., Aug. 25 through 28.
