PORT TOWNSEND — Novelists and poets from Calcutta and California; writers who have won Pushcart Prizes and National Endowment for the Arts fellowships: They’re here this week to teaching at the Port Townsend Writers’ Conference and giving free readings.
Starting Sunday, these visiting writers will offer their work each night for two weeks, mostly at the Wheeler Theater in Fort Worden State Park, 200 Battery Way.

■  Sunday, 7:30 p.m.: Dan Chaon, author of the best-selling novel Await Your Reply.
■  Monday, 7:30 p.m.: Janée Baugher, author of the poetry collections The Body’s Physics and Coordinates of Yes.
■  Tuesday, 7:30 p.m.: Poets Erin Belieu and Patricia Henley.
■  Wednesday, 7 p.m.: Writers’ Conference participants read their work at the Northwind Arts Center, 2409 Jefferson St.
■  Thursday, 7:30 p.m.: Sam Ligon, author of the short-story collection Drift and Swerve, and poet Joe Millar of Blue Rust and other books.
■  Friday, July 12, 7:30 p.m.: Novelist Ann Hood, author of The Obituary Writer, and poet Dorianne Laux.
■  Saturday, July 13, 7:30 p.m.: Poet Cate Marvin and short-story writer Jennine Capó Crucet.
■  Sunday, July 14, 7:30 p.m.: Terrance Hayes, author of Muscular Music and other books.
■  Monday, July 15, 7:30 p.m.: Cate Marvin and Sayantani Dasgupta.
■  Tuesday, July 16, 7:30 p.m.: Joy Passanante and Midge Raymond.
■  Wednesday, July 17, 7 p.m.: Writers’ Conference participants read at the Northwind Arts Center.
