PORT TOWNSEND — Noted Seattle novelist Tom Robbins has been named as guest curator of the Port Townsend Film Festival.
Robbins, author of books such as Another Roadside Attraction and Half Asleep in Frog Pajamas, will join big-screen stars Jane Powell and Dick Moore at the festival, Sept. 24-26.
A new festival series, called “Formative Films: A Personal Perspective on Movies,”‘ will be opened by Robbins, a former movie critic for The Seattle Times.
The series will allow people connected to the film industry to relate their own personal perspective on movies.
In accepting the position as curator, Robbins named two films that influenced him: The 1960 French low-budget gangster flick, “Shoot the Piano Player,” and the 1939 movie, “Tarzan Finds a Son.”
Robbins will introduce both films during the festival.
