Not everything closes for Independence Day holiday

Independence Day is the Fourth of July, but the day after — July 5 — will be a legal holiday this year for all state, county and city offices on the North Olympic Peninsula.

But not everything governmental is closed July 5. Here is a rundown of what’s operating Monday:

Port of Port Townsend

moorage offices will be open from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Garbage:

Pickup schedules for Port Angeles city customers, West Waste and Recycling and Murrey’s Olympic Disposal will be the same as usual.

The Blue Mountain Transfer Station and Port Angeles Regional Transfer Station will be open regular hours Monday.

Senior centers:

Sequim Senior Center will be open Monday. Others will be closed.

Transportation:

Clallam Transit and Jefferson Transit will have regular service Monday.

Jefferson Transit, which usually has service Sunday, will not offer service July 4.

The privately owned ferries MV Coho and Victoria Express between Port Angeles and Victoria, and P.S. Express between Port Townsend and Friday Harbor will operate on their normal schedules.

The Port Townsend-Keystone state ferry will add a 7:55 a.m. run from Port Townsend on Monday.

Pools:

The Sequim Aquatic Recreation Center, William Shore Memorial Pool in Port Angeles and Port Townsend Pool will be closed Sunday and open Monday.
