No, Richard Gere won’t be there

Port Townsend extras and crew members and the general public are welcomed to “An Officer and a Gentleman”‘ reunion at noon Sunday at The Rose Theatre, 235 Taylor St.

The reunion event is a part of the “Port Townsend Goes Hollywood” exhibit at the Jefferson County Historical Society Museum in the Old City Hall, 540 Water St.

A special showing of “An Officer and a Gentleman,” the 1983 romance film starring Richard Gere and Debra Winger, is scheduled with a pre-movie program at The Rose Theater, said historical society museum director Bill Tennent.

Tickets for this Jefferson County Historical Society fund-raiser are $15. They include the pre-movie program, the movie, a reception at the museum afterward and free admission to the exhibit.

Tickets can be bought at the museum or call 360-385-1003 to order and pay by credit card.

Next week, the re-hanging of the restored Terrance Merx mural — which appeared in the film’s bar scene at the former Town Tavern at 639 Water St. — is scheduled for 5 p.m. Friday at the bar, which is now Water Street Brewing and Ale House.

The public is invited to the mural re-hanging, which will include music, beer and other specials, said Water Street Brewing co-owner Nina Law.
