No place like the Home Show in Port Angeles this weekend

PORT ANGELES — The 28th annual KONP Home Show aims to get people ready for those spring and summer projects around the house.

“It has become a real tradition for Port Angeles and a great chance to put on an event for local vendors to really display what they do,” said Todd Ortloff, radio KONP general manager.

“The timing is really good because it is a really great time to come out of the winter slump and think about what you will do with your home.”

The show will run from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday in the Port Angeles High School gyms, 304 E. Park Ave.

Admission to the event is free.

There will be about 170 displays ranging from Happy Valley Pruning to Olympic Medical Center.

“We try to include not only home projects but also anything that has to do with living,” Ortloff said.

“Olympic Medical Center will do some heart health demonstrations and show how to cook healthier for yourself.”

The event will feature some of the “old favorites” as well as many new ones, Ortloff said.

“The economy is such that vendors who never used to come are now wanting to do displays,” he said.

“It has created a bit of a natural turnover, which is really good for people to see some new things.”

Vendors from throughout the North Olympic Peninsula and some from beyond will show off the latest in home decor and building, while others will provide information on mortgages and lifestyle.

The Clallam County Public Utility District, the title sponsor for the event, will bring along its “house on wheels” to demonstrate energy efficiency.

Power Trip Energy will present two solar energy presentations: one at 11 a.m. Saturday and another at 1 p.m. Sunday.

Homeowners and businesses can learn how to generate clean, renewable energy with grid-tied solar electric systems.

Businesses and agencies such as Wave Broadband and the city of Port Angeles will be available to talk about setting up bundling and services for a home.
