PORT TOWNSEND – A lecture scheduled at the Rose Theatre today has been canceled.
Lori Andrews, who was scheduled as the final lecturer in the School of Athens series, was in a car wreck Saturday, according to Rocky Friedman, Rose Theatre owner.
“On her way to Port Townsend today, she was in an automobile accident on the Tacoma Narrows Bridge,” Friedman wrote in an e-mail.
He said she was en route to a hospital with a broken nose, but that the full extent of her injuries were not known Saturday night.
Andrews is a professor at the Chicago-Kent College of Law.
Council conversation
PORT ANGELES – The public can ask questions of Mayor Karen Rogers, Deputy Mayor Larry Williams and City Council member Edna Petersen at this month’s “Community Conversation,” on Tuesday.
The informal get-together will take place from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Vern Burton Community Center, 308 E. Fourth St.
Community Conversations are held the second Tuesday of every month.
Two or three council members are at each meeting.

Class on marine life
PORT TOWNSEND – A six-week course will teach about local marine life and train future docents at the Port Townsend Marine Science Center.
The course, “Introduction to Marine Life,” which is offered as a joint effort between the center and Peninsula College, will be from 9 a.m. to noon every Saturday beginning April 14 and ending May 19.
It will be at the center’s marine exhibit on the pier at Fort Worden State Park.
The program will cost $59, plus class materials, and is open to the public.
“Whether you’re interested in identification, deepening your own coastal experiences or becoming more active in the recovery of Puget Sound and Hood Canal, this series will get you going,” said Anne Murphy, the marine center’s executive director.
Completion of the course qualifies participants to become docents at the center’s marine exhibit.

Dump Day scheduled
PORT ANGELES – A donation in lieu of a fee will be charged at the Regional Transfer Station on Sunday, April 15, during the city’s annual Dump Day.
Cash donations of $5 per load will be accepted for the Port Angeles Food Bank.
No food donations for the food bank will be accepted.
Dump Day will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the transfer station, open at the former site of the Port Angeles Landfill, at 3501 W. 18th St.
The special day is to encourage city and county residents to clean up homes, yards and neighborhoods, as well as to recycle tires, large appliances, and other metals.
Loads will be limited to one per household and can be no larger than that contained in a three-quarter-ton truck or a 5-foot-by-8-foot trailer.
Tires, metals, and yard waste must be separated for recycling.
Each household will be limited to four tires and four appliances.
