CLALLAM BAY — Today’s scheduled Clallam Bay-Sekiu Chamber of Commerce meeting will not be visited by a representative from American Marine Bank, as reported earlier.
But a representative of the Clallam County Economic Development Council will discuss the dearth of banking on the northwest coast with chamber members.
Chamber officials said while they are still seeking to attract another bank to the community after Bank of America closed its Clallam Bay branch Jan. 28, they have not yet confirmed any visits to the region from representatives of any other banks.
An American Marine Bank official said Monday that the Bainbridge Island-based institution had not been contacted by anyone from the Clallam Bay-Sekiu community regarding a visit.
An earlier report erroneously stated that bank officials would be visiting the community today.
But Dylan Honnold, a research analyst for the Economic Development Council, did confirm Tuesday that he will be making a presentation at today’s chamber meeting.
Honnold’s talk will explain details regarding a Bridge Grant awarded to Clallam County by the state Department of Community Trade and Economic Development.
After his talk, Honnold will field questions from chamber members regarding the current banking void in Clallam Bay, Sekiu and Neah Bay.
