No new year babies were born in Clallam or Jefferson counties Sunday, the first day of 2012, according to representatives from Olympic Medical Center, Forks Community Hospital and Jefferson Healthcare hospital.
Port Angeles is eagerly awaiting the first baby of the city’s sesquicentennial year, said Cherie Kidd, Port Angeles city councilwoman and co-chair of the Sesquicentennial Committee.
“This baby is going to be a celebrity,” Kidd said.
Once the first birth in the city is confirmed, the child and his or her parents will receive gift baskets and a $150 savings bond, courtesy of several Port Angeles businesses, she said.
