PORT ANGELES — Nippon Paper Industries USA will cease production and temporarily furlough about 150 employees at its Port Angeles mill for about two weeks beginning June 27.
The move is in response to lower-than-expected demand for paper products, said Harold Norlund, mill manager, today.
This is the second time this year that the Port Angeles mill has scaled back its production and temporarily furloughed jobs.
The mill employs about 220 people.
A few small maintenance projects will occur during the closure, said Harold Norlund, mill manager.
