WSU stream steward class registration
BLYN — The Washington State University Extension on the Olympic Peninsula will offer a stream steward class starting Oct. 18.
The five-week course will be held from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Thursdays from Oct. 18 though Nov. 15 at the Red Cedar Hall, 1033 Old Blyn Highway.
The course will combine classroom presentations followed by field trips to a variety of locations on the North Olympic Peninsula.
Class participants are encouraged to apply what they learn in the course through volunteer activities including stream and salmon monitoring, public outreach, tree planting and habitat restoration.
The course is open to the public, costs $25 and pre-registration is required by Oct. 11.
There will be a free one-hour orientation meeting from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Tuesday.

Unity speaker slated for PA this weekend
PORT ANGELES — The Rev. Donna Little will be the speaker at 10:30 a.m. Sunday at Unity in the Olympics, 2917 E. Myrtle Ave.
Little’s topic this week is “Zeal, the passion and enthusiasm that propels us forward in truth.”
Sunday service begins at 10 a.m. Child care is available.

Animal blessing
PORT ANGELES — St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church will hold its annual blessing of the animals at 2 p.m. Sunday.
The event, usually held at the Gateway Center, will be held on the church’s front lawn this year, 510 E. Park Ave.
Dog and cat treats, along with prayers, will be provided at this free event.
Donations of pet food or non-clumping cat litter will be collected for the Olympic Peninsula Humane Society.
Supper and show
PORT ANGELES — The Peninsula Evangelical Friends Church will host “Supper and a Show” at 6 p.m. Wednesday.
Friends will serve homemade soup, bread, rolls and homemade cookies at Friends Church, 1291 N. Barr Road.
During dinner they will show the 2017 documentary film “Is Genesis History?”
This family-friendly film screening is free and open to the public.

Scholarships for mothers are available
PORT ANGELES — Peninsula College has two $1,000 scholarships available for the 2018-2019 academic year.
The Bright Haygood Copsey scholarships are available to single mothers attending Peninsula College for the entire winter quarter, either full or part time.
Scholarships will be awarded based on potential benefit and financial need.
