NEWS BRIEFS: Water Street paving set in Port Townsend this week … and other items

PORT TOWNSEND — Paving on Water Street is planned for Thursday and Friday.

Work will take place from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. both days from the ferry terminal to Polk Street, according to a press release.

Traffic will be reduced to one lane and delays of up to 15 minutes are expected. All sidewalks will be open.

The city advises drivers to use Washington Street as an alternative route into downtown during paving operations.

The paving is part of the city’s Water Street Enhancement Project being completed by Interwest Construction.

Potluck night

SEQUIM — The Sequim Prairie Grange has set a potluck social for Wednesday at 6:30 p.m.

Members of the public can bring their family and a favorite dish to the grange at 290 Macleay Road.

GFU dean’s list

NEWBURG, Ore. — Port Angeles native Paul Van Rossen was named to George Fox University’s spring 2018 dean’s list.

To qualify, a student must earn at least a 3.5 grade-point average while enrolled in a minimum of 12 hours of grade work.

Van Rossen is a sophomore majoring in mathematics.
