PORT TOWNSEND — Actors and other volunteers are needed now for building, decorating and working backstage for Haunt Town, the Port Townsend Kiwanis Club’s annual haunted house.

The haunt will return this year for three weekends in October — Fridays and Saturdays from Oct. 14-29.

The theme for the 2016 Haunt is “Your Worst Nightmare” and is held in the basement of the Elks Lodge at 555 Otto St.

The chairman, designer and builder is Steve Spencer, assisted by his wife, Christy Spencer.

Potential volunteers for acting, parking helpers and more should contact Christy at cropping

christy1@gmail.com.

Volunteers who want to help build and decorate Haunt Town should contact Steve at sspencer154@gmail.com.

An actors call and crew meeting is scheduled for Thursday from 6 p.m. to

8 p.m. at the Elks Lodge.

The fundraiser again benefits the Kiwanis club’s children’s projects and all the local high school ASB programs which students attend.

For questions, phone Steve at 360-774-0879.

Septics 101

SEQUIM — The Clallam County Department of Health and Human Services will hold a free Septics 101 class at the Dungeness River Audubon Center at Railroad Bridge Park, 2151 W. Hendrickson Road, from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 28.

This class provides homeowners with an overview of the what, why and how of septic system maintenance.

Pre-registration is required and available online at www.tinyurl.com/je8nqjg or by contacting Environmental Health at 360-417-2506.

Registering as soon as possible is recommended because class spaces are limited.

As an alternate to the class, there is an online Septic 101 version available on the Environmental Health website at www.clallam.net/Septics101.

Septics 101 (either the in-person class or online) is a prerequisite for Septics 201, the class that teaches participants how to become certified to inspect one’s own septic system.
