PORT ANGELES — Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary Post 1024 has its annual Veterans Giving Tree set up at the Eagles Aerie at 2843 Myrtle St.
The tree contains names of veterans who are in nursing homes or homebound.
Take a tag, purchase a gift and return it unwrapped no later than Friday, Dec. 16.

NOLT donations
PORT ANGELES — The North Olympic Land Trust (NOLT), 602 E. Front St., will hold a donation drive-through and open house from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday.
Donors can stop by the office to make a donation, and the land trust will match the first $1,000 raised.
Throughout the day, it will host an open house with hot apple cider and sweet treats.
Between 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. will be the “Holiday Happy Hour,” with light refreshments and appetizers while taking a tour of the new office.

Racer talk
PORT TOWNSEND — A free talk with two-time Race to Alaska racer Piper Dunlap will be held at the Northwest Maritime Center’s Maritime Meeting Room, 431 Water St., at 5 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 8.
Dunlap has taught sailing, seamanship and navigation at several establishments over the years; has logged more than 30,000 sea miles; and still maintains his 100-ton Master’s license.
He is an avid oarsman, board sailor and racer, and is president of the Port Townsend Sailing Association.
